Ninety Days to Bliss More

It bears repeating: the magic number for breaking the habit of not meditating is ninety. I want you to commit to meditating in the E.A.S.Y. way for at least ninety days straight, or three months. After around ninety days in a row, you’ll be like the Cessna once it accelerates to ninety miles an hour. You’ll have that “wheels up” feeling as you effortlessly achieve liftoff—meaning you’ll reach a point where most of your meditations will feel mostly blissful, and you’ll no longer have to spend time and energy actively planning each meditation. It’ll become something you instinctively prioritize in your day, along with brushing your teeth and showering.

If you’re constantly hitting the brakes, skipping days, and slowing down, you will feel as though you’re expending a lot of energy without ever reaching that flow state that every meditator seeks inside and outside of the practice. The cutoff is ninety. Not eighty-five, not sixty-two, not every other day for ninety days. It’s ninety days in a row. If you haven’t already started, begin with your first meditation today. Ten minutes will do. And commit to doing at least one meditation a day, but no more than two, for ninety straight days in order to achieve liftoff. After ninety days, set a new ninety-day goal, and continue taking it in ninety-day blocks until you feel the bliss begin to stabilize more and more.
